Re: New Sulphur Regulation 2020 – Europe WAF service vv.

Dear valued customer,

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), in an effort to reduce marine pollution and in order to improve air quality and environmental protection, will require the usage of marine fuels with a Sulphur not exceeding 0.5 percent. At present the current limit is 3,5 percent.
This regulation applies for all sizes of ships. For more and detailed information please see in this respect the IMO website:
http://www.imo.org/en/mediacentre/hottopics/sulphur-2020.aspx

Just as a side note the standard 0.1 percent in Emission Controll Areas (ECAs) in force as from 2015 remains.
Like most ship operators we have opted to use compliant fuel and will therefore supply our fleet with VLSFO as of October 2019, if available.

To comply and prepare for the IMO 2020 regulatory change, Universal Africa Lines will implement a Very Low Sulphur surcharge of Eur 15,- per freight ton and Eur 280,- per teu effective 1st November 2019 bill of lading date as a new an additional surcharge for all cargoes from Europe to WAF vv.

Trust we have informed you sufficiently. If you have questions pls don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kindest  regards,
